Vanity Card #31 - The Screenwriter: The Valkyrie Of Ellison Bay

EXT. NARRATIVE CUTSCENE. ELLISON BAY. LATE EVENING.

CAMERA FOCUSES INTO A PENDULUM CLOCK, SLOWLY BACKING AWAY.
FINALLY THE CAMERA SHOWS A WALL LITTERED WITH STRANGE PHOTOS AND MYSTERIOUS NOTES.

NARRATIVE.

One wise man once said, the dreams in which we truly live and breathe are the most valuable pendulum swings in the essence of time. In the absence of total awareness there was always a small possibility to foresee another truth, another time and place.

I had no clues what had led me into the mist of the bay.
All I knew it had a voice, a familiar one.

CAMERA TAKES MAIN CHARACTERS FIRST PERSON VIEW. CAMERA SHOWS THE FRONT DOOR AND THE WINDOWS AT THE VESTIBULE. THE WINDOW AND THE DOOR GLASS FRAME SHOWS MURKY AND WINDY FRONT YARD. FAR AWAY IN THE DISTANCE THE RAGING LAKE AND THE WOODEN WHARF CAN BE SEEN.

MAIN CHARACTER OPENS THE DOOR, THE SCENE SWITCHES SMOOTHLY FROM THE STORMY NIGHT INTO FRESH GREEN FOREST TRAIL. THE BIRDS ARE SINGING AND THE SLOW BREEZE GENTLY SHAKES THE FOREST TREES.

NARRATIVE.

Whenever the dream changed it brought me to this strange place.
The smell of pine needles, fresh blueberries growing from the ground..total serenity.
The feeling of actually smelling the resin of the forest in the air..it felt so unreal.

MAIN CHARACTER HEARS A CRACK, TURNS TO THE SOUND AND SEES A WOMAN'S FIGURE IN THE DISTANCE.

DIALOGUE.

MAIN CHARACTER:

H..hey!

NARRATIVE.

The woman started to run away.
I had to follow her to find the answers for the questions I had in the back of my head.

MAIN CHARACTER STARTS TO RUN THROUGH THE FOREST AND FOLIAGE. GOING THROUGH THE FOLIAGE AND FOREST BRANCHES, THE THIRD BRANCH CHANGES THE SCENE BACK TO THE MURKY BAY, THE LAKE AND THE WHARF.

MAIN CHARACTER STOPS RUNNING, BEING CONFUSED COMING INTO THE MURKY BAY SUDDENLY. MAIN CHARACTER SEES THE STORMY LAKE AND WALKS TO THE WHARF.

NARRATIVE.

I started to hear the words "I am" coming from the lake, whispers deep down buried below the surface. Her voice was the wind forming the small ripples in the murky water.

The time for my answers was nigh.

SUDDENLY CAMERA FOCUSES INTO THE SKY. WHITE COMET WITH BLUE GLOWING TAIL COMES CRASHING DOWN INTO THE LAKE. MAIN CHARACTER FALLS BACK FROM THE METEOR CRASH FORCE. SCENE FADES TO ABSOLUTE WHITE.

NARRATIVE.

But this was just the beginning.

MAIN CHARACTER SHOCKS AND WAKES UP, FINDING HIMSELF SLEEPING IN A HAMMOCK AT HIS HOUSE PORCH. THE SUN IS SETTING DOWN.

DIALOGUE.

ADELINA: "Kinos!"

KINOS: "Huh? What?"

ADELINA: "Wake up sweetie. You really shouldn't sleep outside anymore, you know that."

KINOS STANDS UP FROM THE HAMMOCK, BRUSHING HIS EYES. HIS EYES WANDER INTO THE CLOSING SUNSET

KINOS: "How long did I sleep?"

ADELINA: "I just came back from the town, so I'd guess you were knocked out for at least couple of hours. Please don't sleep there anymore, it's already starting to get cold at nights."

NARRATIVE.

Adelina had a good point. The summer had already flown by, the autumn had come knockin' to Michigan. The autumn was the start of a tourist season when the town got more busy than a agitated bee's nest. Everyone wanted to see the forest fall colors with their own eyes. The local newspaper marketed it as a perfect Kodak-moment.

What was my job again? Oh Yeah. I was a forest ranger.

The author was given another life after living the usual household hell for a couple of decades.

Nowadays the writer has devoted his time to think about the big scary things..like relationships. Personal economy.
Women and the space time continuum.
There must be a loophole?
